This month, Tulsa public school board members and Superintendent Deborah Gist discussed budget cuts and major changes that would alter the entire school year and system.

According to discussions with Gist, Tulsa public schools are considering shortening the school week to four days and eliminating transportation for everyone except special education students. Gist and many Tulsa locals say that the discussion is up in the air, but could be necessary in order to be able to function with the anticipated budget cuts they are facing for the 2016-2017 school year, which are anywhere from $7 million to $20 million.
